ALBUM REVIEW Cilvia Demo by Isaiah Rashad I didn’t know this guy existed until I saw the 2013 BET Cypher. After listening to the T.D.E Cypher a few times, I thought he held his own. No punch lines stood out, but his ability to stay on beat while using common phrases left me intrigued. I decided to give the Cilvia Demo EP a listen. The EP opens up with sheer honesty in a track called “Hereditary.” This song solidifies his stance as a musician. He understands how to use melody, and the lyrics are deep. Even if you don’t understand the words, you can ride to the sound. Any question of his lyrical ability is answered within 30 seconds of track two, “Webie Flow.” This is the type of track an MC closes their eyes to and pretends they wrote it. Isaiah has an uncanny ability to use everyday phrases, like “I’ve grown up for child’s sake.” He rides the beat with a ferociousness of a Ludacris, but younger and with fewer punch lines.
