2. They Answered The Call To Serve in Kenya

W
ho would tell the Samburu and the Masai of Jesus’ love? Typically, MVCians are sent
throughout the world as teachers, doctors, accountants, dentists, administrators, nurses, etc.
They have a full time job to do. And yet, just like when we were students at MVC with our 25+
units load of classes, we were taught about Jesus and His love for us. We tasted the deepest joy of going
out on ministerial outreach or free clinics where we helped ease the suffering of people and told them of
Jesus’ love. We had learned that regardless of so-called busy schedules, there is always time to share the
story of God’s love – because sharing that story is our main purpose of being on this world.
On the October 31 2014 issue of CyberFlashes we featured the East African country of Kenya, the Masai
tribe, and the MVCians who served in Kenya. A few hours after that issue was mailed out, we got flooded
by comments. We also received comments from disappointed CF readers who did not see the names of
their loved ones listed. “Didn’t their years in service in Kenya count for something?” was their rallying cry.
A big thank you to all of those who sent their comments. As you know, the list of who served in Africa
came as group effort from our alumni. The editors do not know if we have an alumni office on campus
who keeps track of who serves where…so the CF staff simply compiled the information our readers
provided. Today, thanks to each of those who wrote, we have a more accurate list of MVC Alumni who
served in Kenya!
