Closing Thoughts As our “visit” to Kenya comes to an end, we look at the “souvenirs” we have collected during our safari. We learned a few lessons about the Jacaranda trees, met the Samburu and the Masai, we reconnected with MVC alumni who served in Kenya and heard some of their many experiences. We end our “visit” with a warm feeling and a desire to come back one day soon – perhaps to do a tour, or a mission trip, or both. And in your hand are two Kenyan recipes that you think you would try. During this safari, you also learned about beautiful Sri Lanka and about the SULADS’ work in Thailand. We received some alumni news and news from the HilltopFlashes (mailed out together with this issue of CF). You’re either chuckling about the items you read in Jessie’s Patch of Weeds or have already launched into a theological soapbox. But overall, you feel just as though you were able to do some catching up with fellow alumni – and that’s what CyberFlashes is all about. But as my cousin Lillian Javellana say, “the sky will not always be blue with white fluffy clouds. Thre are times when the sky will be overcast … and the thick clouds cover the whole sky so that even the sun cannot penetrate through.” And it is during these times when we must realize that God is still right there beside us. Often we do not fully understand what is going on and why, but one thing is sure: we can always trust in our Heavenly Father to take care of us. I would suggest we get to know our Father in Heaven a little bit more but getting acquainted with His promises to us. Below are the promises we quoted earlier. For your convenience we are reiterating them. “We wait in hope for the Lord; He is our help and our shield.
