The Seventh-day Adventist church entered Sri Lanka in 1904 with the arrival of Missionaries Harry
Armstrong and G.K. Owen. In 1916 an Indian Evangelist T. S. Nayagampillai baptized the first convert –
a proctor of the Supreme Court and his wife. In 1922, H.A. Hansen organized the first church and
baptized the first Sinhale convert. In the same year, he organized Ceylon Mission and in 1923, opened
a school that was known now as Lakpahana Adventist College and Seminary in Mailapitiya. A clinic was
opened in 1964 which ultimately became known as Kandy Adventist Hospital.
Sri Lanka at present has about 3,000 church members attending Sabbath services in 37 churches.
Sadly, the 2004 Asian tsunami killed over 35,000 in Sri Lanka.

ddie Zamora shares that gospel music world has lost a singer, composer, arranger, director, and
pastor. Andrae Crouch passed away on January 8, 2015. He was 72. He is well-known for songs he
composed including "Through It All," "Soon and Very Soon," and "My Tribute-To God Be the Glory.
