Kenya. It is protected by the Lake Nakuru National Park. It’s overabundance of algae attracts a vast
number of flamingos that famously line the short. Other birds also flourish in the area as do
warthogs, baboons, and large mammals like the black and the white rhinos. The lake’s water level
dramatically dropped in the early 1990s but has since recovered. Then in 2013, the lake received an
alarming increase in water which led the flamingos elsewhere in search of food.
2. The Giraffe Centre is a Non-Profit making organization whose main objective is to provide
conservation education for school children and the youth of Kenya. All their education programs are
offered to the kids free of charge. It was founded in 1979 by the late Jock Leslie-Melvile, a Kenyan of
British descent and his wife the late Betty Leslie Melvile, an American citizen. The Jocks had a vision
of creating an educational institution in conjunction with rescuing the endangered Rothschild
giraffes which resulted in the present day Giraffe Center that has become the a world famous Nature
Education Center.
3. Lake Naivashais a great place to observe birds, hippopotamus behavior, as well as other wildlife. It is
located in Nakuru County, Kenya, northwest of Nairobi. This is a popular tourist destination and is
located near the Hell's Gate National Park, ,Longonot National Park and Mount Longonot. In the late
1970s-1980s Lake Naivasha was overrun with poachers and foreign creatures introduced into the lake
