Poetry

Family by Ariana Aikman

Forever there for you --even through your mistakes.

Always there to make you smile --even when you feel sad.

Making you feel special --even when you believe you are not.

Inspiring you to be your true self --even when you doubt yourself

Love you despite your flaws --even if you have many.

You will always have family by your side --even when you think you are alone.

Odysseus by Ayden Snyder

There once was a man who fought in Troy,

who decided to invade in a wooden horse toy.

After triumph they landed on an isle.

They were stuck in a cyclops' cave for a while.

In the underworld, Odysseus needed to see a prophet,

when they do, their friends' freedom will profit.

When he got past all the dangers,

he found his home was full of strangers.

Above the Clouds by Bella Dombroski

Entering a dream while

Lying above the clouds,

Like a colorful scheme.

A daily regime

Bursting through a crowd while

Entering a dream.

Nothing is as it seems, and

Music becomes so loud

Like a colorful scheme.

Almost like blasphemy

Walking around so proud while

Entering a dream.

Walking on a balance beam, and

Entering places you’re not allowed

Like a colorful scheme.

Then, it begins to rip at the seams--

This place you are unallowed while

Entering a dream

Like a colorful scheme.

Almost like blasphemy

Walking around so proud while

Entering a dream.

Walking on a balance beam, and

Entering places you’re not allowed

Like a colorful scheme.

Then, it begins to rip at the seams--

This place you are unallowed while

Entering a dream

Like a colorful scheme.

Cats and Mice by Grace Perry

Cats and mice run about,

Causing a ruckus here throughout.

Swastikas gleam in the dark cats’ eyes,

Finding prey through racist lies.

Mice hide in tiny holes,

Lest they be caught by Nazi patrols.

Maniacal laughter echoes around,

As more and more mice are put in the ground.

Six million lives are the price,

In this game of cats and mice.

Nature by Elisa Moscone

Feel the wind as it blows through your hair

The drizzle of rain falls without care.

Listen closely to the loud thunder rumble

The lightning scatters in a mixed jumble.

Feel the wet grass beneath your feet

The bugs beside you think you’re neat!

The earth revolves and life goes on

But nature still loves you from dusk to dawn.

The life around you, through good and bad,

Will never give up on you- not even a tad.

Feel no sorrow, no sadness, nor pain

Just listen to nature and its delightful rain.

Nature is filled with life and peace

And this sweet feeling will never cease.
