Ebola: Are we in danger?

The recent cases of the Ebola outbreak has Americans in a outraged frenzy. Although Ebola is not a contagious disease it has the ability to spread like wild fire; starting across the country, originating in parts of West Africa and making it's way on to U.S. Soil. The Ebola virus can lie dormant for up to three weeks once contracted and the symptoms can be fatal. This leads Americans to ask one question, Are we in danger? There has been cases where Ebola patients have recovered after receiving proper treatment however, statistics show that over half of the victims who have contracted Ebola virus have died from complications caused by the virus. The U.S. is now taking precautions with hopes of containing Ebola virus; U.S. airports are increasing their screening process on individuals traveling into the United States from infected areas overseas, also known as Ebola hotspots. Hospitals, Private Practices & Clinics are now requesting travel information from all patients who come in with symptoms similar to those of the Ebola virus. Health professionals have advised all medical practices to isolate any and every patient who has symptoms of Ebola virus and to contact the CDC (Center for Disease Control) immediately.
