TARUWA Taruwa takes place at Bogobiri house located at Maitama Sule Street, Ikoyi and it holds every last Tuesday of the month. its a place where you are most likely going to run in to creative minds and easy going people. It is a safe place to laugh and be yourself really. There are no restrictions, just remember to bring your crazy along and leave being stuck up at home because at Taruwa, it's all about expression through art in any form. I particularly enjoy the atmosphere at the event. It's a relaxing atmosphere really. No holds barred. Laugh and dance as much as you would let yourself. Make new friends just by connecting on varied subject matters. Loads of screaming and excitement. Never a dull moment. Something interesting is always happening. There's a live band. So whoever comes to sing or perform can't rely on any back up music player. No lip syncing involved, you gotta be comfortable in Your own skin and your abilities to mount the stage at Taruwa. Attendance at Taruwa is free! No wonder its always jam packed one may say. Some days you would stand all through the event because of the crowd, but you never really pay attention to it because you are having so much fun and you can get drinks at regular price. I think chapman cost about 1500 naira. Attendance is always exotic and I say this because you can meet anybody there. Bankers, media personalities, directors, young people, creatives, it's all encompassing. It's a relaxing atmosphere, everyone loves to relax and have a good laugh. Attendance is usually around 50-100 people at any given time. I attend Taruwa mainly for networking purposes and to have a good laugh. It's my time to let down my dreads and enjoy art in its purest form. I get so inspired during and after attending such events because it reminds me of the endless possibilities that lie ahead and how it is important to always step back and breathe.
