Object Loans
The Museum loaned 100 icons and objects to the Chrysler Museum’s
exhibition Saints and Dragons: Icons from Byzantium to Russia. This
project, which originated in at the Museum of Russian Icons in 2015,
was a partnership between the Museum of Russian Icons, the Chrysler,
and the British Museum. The exhibition was on view at the Chrysler
from October 2, 2015, through January 10, 2016.
A rare icon depicting On the Seventh Day He Rested (2013.80),
showing God at rest following His creation of the world, is on long
term loan to the Worcester Art Museum. The icon is presently installed
in WAM’s late medieval painting gallery, and looks quite at home amid
the Italian and Spanish paintings.
