Kick off your holiday shopping and support museums at the
same time!
The Museum of Russian Icons is participating in the first
annual Museum Store Sunday on November 26, 2017. This
initiative, established by the Museum Store Association (MSA),
aims to bring holiday shoppers, visitors, and members the
opportunity to give with meaning by shopping at museum
stores for unique gifts while directly supporting museums
and their missions.
Visitors can enjoy a 20% discount on all items in
the Museum’s shop, a complimentary tea tasting
featuring the aromatic Russian blends of Kusmi Tea,
and a sampling of Russian treats. The shop
will feature customer favorites, such as
one-of-a-kind matryoshki nesting dolls, hand-painted
Russian Santas, and an assortment of imported gifts.
Exclusive items to keep an eye out for are our newly
redesigned postcards, brass ornaments featuring the
Museum’s logo, and new jewelry lines inspired by
Byzantine and Russian motifs.
The Gift of Membership
Treat your friends and family to a gift that lasts all year.
We’re offering 20% off of all memberships purchased

Collection News
Calling All Florists
The Museum is thrilled to have received
a generous donation of over 100 Russian
icons and other objects from the private
collection of Joan and Edward Simpson.
Ed and Joan love to travel and collect
art, and because their tastes are quite
different from each other’s, their
collections are eclectic, ranging from
Norman Rockwell (Ed’s favorite) to
Leonora Carrington (Joan’s favorite).
The Simpsons started a quest to acquire
and understand Russian icons and
artifacts in 1990 when they purchased
an icon in St. Petersburg.
Their donation greatly amplifies our late
19th century collection and closes some
gaps in our collection of 18th century
icons.
A selection of these
new acquisitions
will be on display
starting in
November.

Are you a florist, garden club, or an
individual with a passion for floral
design? The Museum invites you
to participate in the first annual
Christmas in Bloom, an exhibition of
floral arrangements designed to evoke
the essence of Russian icons. The
exhibition will take place December
16-23. We are asking designers to make
a tax-deductible donation of a floral
arrangement that can be displayed
on a vertical pedestal. Designers will
be acknowledged on the
arrangement’s label, on
the Museum’s website,
and in the 2017
Annual Report.
