April 17 T i m e - l a p s e photography is always a very little known area, for most photographers. This is because most of the DSLRs require special gadgets to enable time- lapse recording. Doing a Time-Lapse Video in GH5 is very straightforward. You just need to dial in the Time-Lapse mode on the mode dial. Setup your intervals. Keep the camera in Shutter Priority, Aperture Priority or Manual mode and click record. After recording the image sequences, it offers to put the images together and makes you a time lapse video up to a minute long. It is that simple. Some tips and tricks on Time- Lapse photography. Always aim to shoot at a lower shutter speed. Lower the shutter speed then better the motion blur; this prevents the time-lapse from being choppy. To set the shutter speed to as low as 1 sec. You would certainly need a Variable ND filter and a firm tripod. Always avoid using Autofocus during t ime- lapse shoots. Capture a Frame once in 3 to 5 seconds. Capture 53 over 1200 frames to get over a minute of Time-Lapse Video. Never use any auto functions in the camera, disable the in- body stabilizers and put the camera on a firm tripod. Never overexpose the image. The exposure should be just right. While doing a long time-lapse sequence make sure you have two 64gb or 128 gb cards in the camera so you don’t run out of space. It is preferable to shoot in RAW as you can postprocess the images if you want to create a cusom video using after effects.
