MINDI O’BRIEN IFBB PRO teamobrien.ca “Online training is an excellent way to hire a coach or trainer to help you get in shape or prepare for a compe- tition. With the internet, a prospective client can find a coach that meets their per- sonal needs anywhere in the world; I myself have clients across the globe that are thrilled with their results. “There are a myriad of benefits to this approach that my clients have expressed, including how direct the information is relayed, the online support (Skype, email), personalized meal plans, customized conditioning and weight training programs, and bi-weekly check-ins. My com- petitors all get time to discuss their suit, hair, makeup, show selection and take posing classes with me. “I have a specific methodology that ensures the utmost success for my pro- spective clients, and the first step is the initial consultation, where I evaluate the fitness goals and personal wants of the clients. I typically request photos taken wearing a bikini or sports bra and bike shorts so I can analyze the client’s overall physique. Once I have all the necessary information, I work with the client to de- sign a personalized program and meal plan. I expect clients to check in online once per week to provide updates on how they feel, how they’re sleeping, any hunger pangs, training, as well as sending updated photos for evalua- tion. “I find the biggest chal- lenge is making sure the client is following their program as it is designed; any deviations can delay or prevent the de- sired results from occurring. I believe that communication is critical for success, and these weekly check-ins alleviate many potential issues. I can always tell when you cheat on your diet; you can’t lie to Mindi O!” 58   MUSCLE MEMORY | APRIL/MAY 2018
