something or not at all. The priorities
can change at any time as you will
soon discover, but he has no time for
half-arsed efforts in any part of his life.
As soon as his commitment to selling
memberships in a mainstream gym
dropped below 100% he moved on,
and CrossFit® just happened to be
waiting to welcome him with its arms
wide open.
He took to this new sport like a duck
to water and in 2008 was awarded the
title ‘Fittest Man on Earth’ by winning
the Games. Life changed dramatically
from this point on which saw Jason
spend the best part of the next ten
years travelling to every corner of the
globe to compete, teach and learn
under the CrossFit® banner.
“CrossFit® has connected me
globally to a network of like minded
individuals who want to work hard.
I think that that work ethic is
something that transfers into
everybody’s life. So, for me, what
CrossFit® or ‘group style functional
fitness’ has provided me with is a
network of like minded individuals
who want to push themselves inside
the gym, but also outside the gym”.
Working hard outside of the gym is
exactly what he did, travelling the
world to share his knowledge in the
Middle East, Asia, Oceana, Africa,
Europe, South America and
extensively throughout North America

with his trademark commitment and
dedication for ten years. Practising
what we was preaching every step of
the way and maintaining his elite
fitness levels to the point where he
earned six top ten finishes at the
CrossFit® Games, including a 2nd
place finish in 2013 and a 3rd place
finish in 2014 during the same period.
Most of the other finalists from that
day in 2008 when Jason won the
CrossFit® Games have all but
disappeared, I cannot help but think
that they didn’t have his determination
or commitment.
As his family grew with the addition
of two children (Ava and Kaden), and
the business flourished with multiple
NCFIT locations in California,
Minnesota and Mexico, his priorities
changed. Competing was now a
distant third behind family and
business. For this reason, Jason
decided to switch to the Team event
from
