MALE MUSCLE E’S THE YOUNGSTER FROM HARLOW WHO’S H WON EVERY SINGLE PHYSIQUE COMPETITION HE’S ENTERED! AND IKE AGHO HAS SOME INTERESTING ADVICE FOR THOSE WANTING TO SHARE IN HIS WINNING WAYS. “I first started competing around three years ago after being inspired by my sports science teacher at uni,” reveals Ike. “He competes and I found it so intriguing, but I never thought I was good enough.” Ike eventually plucked up the courage to give it a go, and attended the UKUP boot camp in 2014. “The boot camp gave me so much confidence and a real insight into what to expect when I stepped on stage,” he recalls. “I then went on to win my very first physique competition, and every show I have entered ever since.” Having taken the UKUP world championships by storm at BodyPower 2017, Ike went on to win the worlds again in November the same year. He now has new goals in site. “This year I will be competing with the PCA at BodyPower in May,” he reveals. “I plan to take first place again. I never step on stage without believing I’m going to win and this positive attitude hasn’t failed me yet!” So what exactly is Ike’s secret to taking the top spot? “I wear a waist trainer,” he smiles. “I absolutely love it- it has taken my waist in very substantially since my first show. My waist is now a tiny 28 inches! People tell me waist training is only for girls, but Jeremy Buendia wears one and if it’s good enough for him it’s certainly good enough for the rest of us! I hope to be as impressive as Jeremy one day- there’s no reason why not!” Ike trains twice a day, six times a week and wears his waist trainer for every session- both off-season and during prep. “I train for 6-8am before uni, and then again from 6-8pm,” says Ike. “I’m a football ref too, so I get my cardio in 2-3 x a week running around the pitch, then play basketball once a week to top it all off. I don’t worry about overtraining. My body would tell me if I was overtraining but I am making muscular improvements all the time.” Ike says he’s lucky with his diet and can afford to enjoy his food. “I am lucky I must admit because I have a fast metabolism,” he says. “Having said that, I eat tons of chicken, vegetables and lean protein 70 MUSCLE & FITNESS / MARCH 2018
