Having famously achieved a World Record at BodyPower 2017, Sean became the first person in the world to bench press 105kg dumbbells unassisted. Last month he shared the secret to becoming a hybrid athlete with Muscle & Fitness readers. And with yet another BodyPower World Record attempt ahead of him, Sean is far from finished in his quest to be the world’s best! “Getting a World Record was the most amazing achievement for me,” recalls Sean. “The training for the event was challenging to say the least, but to succeed in front of thousands of people at BodyPower made it all so worth it.” Some people would stop there and revel in the glory, but Sean says his Herculean mindset keeps him driving forwards. “I’m not called Hercules for nothing,” he smiles. “Yes I’m strong and yes I’m powerful, but these attributes are a result of years of hard work and determination. If you want something in life you have to go and get it, and just because I smashed a World Record last year it doesn’t mean I don’t have more in the tank.” In true Herculean style, Sean plans to up his game- this time taking the weight up to 110kg, or 243lbs. “At BodyPower in May, I will be attempting to become the first person in the world to bench press 110kg dumbbells, again unassisted,” he reveals. This remarkable feat of strength will see Sean load these titan dumbbells into position by himself, press them, and then bring them down on to his knees, using a technique he has become notorious for. “From a young age, I have always MARCH 2018 / MUSCLE & FITNESS 25
