OHAN “BOSSIE” BOSHOFF IS STILL
REACHING FOR NEW PHYSICAL
FRONTIERS, EVEN AFTER WHAT
SEEMS LIKE A LIFETIME IN THE
SPORT. The Pretoria-based bodybuilder
recently competed in the Over 40 Over 80kg
division at the 2017 Arnold Classic Africa,
placing 6th in a line-up of 24 athletes. “I feel
disappointed in my placing, but that’s the
nature of the beast. You need to be the best
you can be,” says Bossie.
Never one to sit on his laurels, he continued
training for the NABBA/WFF Pretoria Classic
Pro Am and walked away with 2nd spot in
the Open line-up. “I kept my shape and that
is the reason I entered the shows. The only
thing I found hard was to focus on both while
also trying to bring my top condition to the
stage. Training in your forties is a lot harder
than in your twenties and thirties,” admits the
46-year-old, who works for Ascendis Health
as a sales representative, focusing on mainly
health and fitness supplementation.
“WHAT’S THE NEXT
SHOW I CAN DO?”
Bossie started seriously lifting weights
when he was 16 years old and competed
for the first time when he was 18, winning
the Overall trophy at a local show. From
that moment he was hooked.
Over the years he has won multiple titles at
shows, but credits 2010 as the highlight of his
bodybuilding career when he walked away
with the Overall titles in all the federations,
taking his line-up at the WPF Universe
Championships and the Samson Classic in
the same year.
“The feeling I get when I’m up on stage is
what motivates me to continue to improve.
It has always been a question of ‘what’s the
next show I can do?’”
