nutritional methods in such a way that you
can reach your goals. If you don't put in the
work you won't reap the results!
Are you a trophy collector, Muzi?
No one in my family competes. I'm the only
one. But no, I'm not a trophy collector. My
goal is to improve my physique and make
my family and friends proud. My biggest
achievement is not winning a show, but
rather winning the hearts of the people at a
show. The Millennium Gold Plate and Buffalo
City comp are the shows that paved the way
for my success at the Arnold Classic Africa.
How was the Arnold, and who supported
you the most leading up to the show?
It was totally overwhelming for me! At the
2015 IFBB SA Champs I failed to place
due to the fact that my gut was distended.
The ACA was therefore an enormous
psychological battle. I depended on my
girlfriend Nompumelelo Sigudla, who played
a vital role because my coach, Federico
Focherini was away in Kuwait at the time
of the show. Nompumelelo was my source
of strength. She made sure that I ate all
my meals and trained twice a day. Mavu
Sports Development also helped to support
me financially as I had no sponsor. They
covered my food and supplements so that I
could compete. Without my mentors, Marc
Krom and Bongani Myaka, I would not have
been able to achieve anything. My biggest
support system came from all the people
who followed my journey on social media,
though. The prep was a special one because
I was willing to do whatever was needed to
succeed. The victory at the Arnold was for me
and each and every South African athlete!
It was a close battle between you and
Johnny Lucas at the Arnold. Describe
your prep?
Much respect to Johnny because he
was one person who really helped me to
dig deeper! Johnny is known for always
bringing his A-game, so I told myself that
I should be ahead of my prep and get as
lean as possible. Once I was lean enough
I could grow into the show and flex with
confidence! For the ACA I separated
my carb and protein intake, eating them
