ext to squats, the
deadlift is the
most important
exercise for growth
as it works most
of your major muscle
groups with the heaviest
weight possible. Deadlifts
strengthen your entire
back and legs, as well as
the surrounding muscles.
It is also one of the most
effective exercises to build
a rock solid core.
This exercise will contribute more to strength and
overall size gains than any other exercise. However,
sometimes you will see someone do a version of the
deadlift for legs, and sometimes you will see someone
do it for back. In fact, in our last issue we featured a leg
workout and a back workout, and a dumbbell variation of
the deadlift was used in both.
Just look around the gym. Some guys do deadlifts on
leg days and some do them on back days. There is no
point arguing about it, let’s get to the bottom of why this
is such a versatile lift. But before we get there, let’s have
a look at the traditional deadlift.
