Municipal Monitor Q3 2017 | Page 18

Following the termination of funding by the provin- cial government for the AMCTO Municipal Management Internship program, Tony worked diligently with AMCTO in collaboration with other Ontario municipal associa- tions to develop other opportunities and strategies such as the Onward Program, in order to address the critical issue of succession planning in the sector, and to continue to encourage and entice the next generation of talented young professionals to municipal sector careers. Tony is a found- ing member of the Onward initiative and a strong advocate for the program, delivering presentations on behalf of the initiative to government and audiences of college and university students in public administration programs, as well as to municipal association conferences across the province. His passion for succession planning and developing the leaders of tomorrow has contributed to the sustainability of the sector and will leave a lasting impression as these indi- viduals continue to pay it forward with new professionals to come. Tony Haddad also has a strong affinity for his community, and serves his home community of Windsor-Essex through his involvement in a variety of organizations as a volunteer. Tony has been a minor hockey and baseball coach, a United Way cabinet member, the president of a credit union, and is the treasurer of a minor hockey association. Currently, he is a member of the Circle of 7, a non-profit group established in 1996 committed to supporting the community in a vari- ety of ways. Over the past 18 years, the group has generated over $3 million for deserving individuals, non-profit orga- nizations, charities and hospitals. If these activities were not enough, Tony has also acted as an instructor for post- secondary and professional development management courses.  “I am thrilled to support the nomination of Tony Haddad for the 2017 Prestige Award. I have had the pleasure of knowing Tony for almost 20 years and throughout that time have been impressed by his professionalism and dedication to fostering municipal excellence. I  can think of no other individual as deserving as Tony for the 2017 Prestige Award. His contributions have been extensive and distinguish him as a worthy recipient.” Cathie Best, CMO, AMCT – 1997 AMCTO President, and 2008 Prestige Award Winner. 16 Q3 2016  www.amcto.com
