THE SCRAPBOOK LORETTO TRYSTARS! Recently, fifty students from Loretto Mandeville Hall in Toorak, Victoria undertook the TRYstars program as part of the Sporting Schools initiative under the expert guidance of Emma Carney. After a 4-week training program, which included their own mini-tri, the girls took part in the Gatorade Race 5 event. “Our students loved the training program with Emma Carney, they thought it was great bringing their bike to school and practicing the many skills involved in triathlon. The training was very specific to the skills they would need on the day and they loved doing a mini-tri at school and learning how to do the transitions. The pride on their faces when they crossed the line was really special." said PE, Sports Coordinator, Whitney Beseler. DRINK WATER WHEN YOU'RE BLOATED When you feel bloated, drinking water sounds as if it would only make matters worse, but it can often help, says James Lee, MD, gastroenterologist with St. Joseph Hospital in Orange, Calif. If you're on a high-fibre diet, for instance, then your body needs more water to work more efficiently, says Dr. Lee. "Water mixes with water soluble fibre and makes it into a gel like substance. This affects the motility of the gut and reduces the symptom of bloating." Drinking more water also relieves bloating caused by dehydration. When you're dehydrated, your body clings to the water your body does have, causing you to puff up. MULTISPORT MAGAZINE | 41
