reating Extraordinary, one of its own mantras, an ideal
Hamilton Island strives to achieve in its service throughout
its resort, its restaurants and activities. It also extends to
its Endurance Series; its portfolio of boutique sporting
events held in the idyllic Whitsundays.
The Hamilton Island Triathlon has a self-imposed cap to ensure
a boutique experience. The airport is shut down to be utilised for
the bike course, swim cans are replaced with catamarans and the
transition has ITU style racking with magnetic nameplates that
become keepsakes, your gear is packed and awaiting you at bike
collection and with it, a different gift each year. It’s not just the
location that makes this race unique.

Sunday sees the Junior Triathlon and the Whitehaven Beach
Ocean Swim. The kids get the full treatment; bibs, tattoos, ITU
racking, silicone swim caps, medals and timing. Then if it’s off
to one of the top ten beaches in the world for the Ocean Swim.
Chartered boats deliver you to the soft white silica sands, the event
crew well ahead of you with finish arch and carpet in place, fruit
and hydration station stocked to the hilt.
The race calendar never gets any smaller, the bucket list balloons
yet some race experiences are worth finding the time for; it’s a
race and place you won’t forget.
