La conception des espaces permet au CUSM d ' instaurer des pratiques exemplaires en matière de services de soutien et d ' offrir le meilleur séjour hospitalier qui soit aux patients . g Toutes les équipes de logistique et de soutien général sont situées à l ' étage S2 du site Glen . Le couloir de la logistique – l ' épine dorsale du site – leur donne accès à un groupe d ' ascenseurs réservés dans chaque pavillon , ce qui facilite l ' acheminement d ' équipements et de fournitures aux unités de soins en retrait des regards du public . Les ascenseurs réservés assurent la circulation séparée des patients et du matériel , ce qui permet également de distinguer les fournitures sales des fournitures propres . Le site Glen compte 58 ascenseurs pour simplifier les déplacements des visiteurs , des patients hospitalisés et des équipes de soutien , dont huit ascenseurs dédiés aux les services de soutien .
Au centre de chaque unité de soins , les aires d ’ assemblage flexibles serviront d ’ aires de transit et de rangement où les employés des services de soutien prépareront le matériel et les fournitures dont ont besoin les cliniciens . Ces aires sont divisées en deux zones distinctes afin de bien séparer , là encore , le transport du matériel propre de celui du matériel souillé .

The segregation of public and staff means that visitors will not see any material movement or share any spaces that would be occupied by services like housekeeping and material or mail transport .
“ The safe and efficient movement of patients and materials throughout the Glen equals increased dignity and confidentiality for patients , better infection control , and an improved experience for al , explains Mathieu Jetté , MUHC Director of Logistics Services .
All of the Logistics and General Support teams are located on the second basement level of the Glen site . The logistics corridor or “ spine ” of the Glen site gives them access to a dedicated bank of elevators for each pavilion , facilitating the flow of equipment and supplies to patient units , while remaining completely hidden from public view . The dedicated elevators ensure segregation between patient and material movement , which also allows for a distinction between soiled and clean material . In total , the Glen site counts on an astounding 58 elevators to simplify the movement of visitors , hospitalized patients and support teams , including eight elevators specifically designed for support service activity .
Located centrally on every inpatient unit , dedicated agile assembly areas act as a transit and holding area in which support service employees will be able to prepare the equipment and supplies needed by clinicians . Agile assembly areas are split into two distinct zones , once again allowing for the complete separation of clean and soiled material flows .
“ The MUHC is undergoing an historic transformation ,” explains Frank Vieira , Associate Director of Materials Management . “ The design allows the MUHC to bring out the best behaviours in support services and provide the best hospital experience for patients . These innovations will allow us to provide a level of service that is not seen anywhere else in Canada , making the Glen site of the MUHC a flagship in terms of support services .”
