Ask God to help you focus on Jesus—the reason we’re celebrating. Here are a few festive touches, without stress or deep pockets. Put on the Christmas music, sprinkle cinnamon on a pan in a warm oven, and let’s deck the halls! Set out manger scenes in prominent places. Use more candles than usual, and tie gold or silver ribbon around the candle holders. Bring in fresh greenery. This can be a good way to make new friends. Neighbors with magnolia or pine trees may be agreeable to a few discreet snips here and there. Pine branches mix nicely with magnolia, too. Spray paint loose pine cones a festive silver or gold.
