As an atheist educated in journalism and law, I spent nearly two years scrutinizing these claims before becoming convinced by the historical data that Jesus proved He is the Son of God by returning from the dead. And that has given me: • Hope in Jesus’ wisdom. If He really is divine, His teachings are holy insights on which I can confidently build my life. • Hope in Jesus’ purity. If Jesus sets the standard for morality, then I can have an unwavering foundation for my choices and decisions. • Hope in Jesus’ friendship. If He rose from the dead, He’s still alive and I can know Him personally. • Hope in Jesus’ guidance. If Jesus has divine power, He has the supernatural ability to lead me, help me and transform me as I follow Him. • Hope in Jesus’ comfort. If Jesus personally knows the pain of loss and suffering, He can encourage me in the midst of the turbulence that He himself warned is inevitable in this world corrupted by sin. • Hope in Jesus’ compassion. If Jesus loves me as He showed by His sacrificial death, then He has my best interests at heart. That means I have nothing to lose and everything to gain by committing myself to Him and His purposes. • Hope in Jesus’ sovereignty. If Jesus is God in human flesh, then as my Creator He rightfully deserves my allegiance, obedience and worship. For more from Lee Strobel, check out The Case for Hope on
