What's new at Mt Stirling Mt Stirling just keeps on getting better each snow season, with improvements around the resort to enhance the visitor experience and ensure Mt Stirling maintains its reputation as the place for authentic alpine adventure. Mt Stirling's 2018 enhancements – – A new snowcam installed mid-mountain, complementing the two existing cams at Telephone Box Junction and the Cricket Pitch and giving skiers an even better picture of current snow conditions; – – Improvements at the popular Fork Creek Trail for better snow holding and access during low snow conditions; – – A new weather station at Weather Station Ramble, providing even more data for snow reporting. These improvements follow on from other fantastic initiatives by Resort Management in recent years, including the installation of a micro-hydroelectricity system in 2017 to power the visitor centre at Telephone Box Junction, which is now fully operational and provides renewable energy to the Visitor Centre (incorporating the Ski Patrol base and Resort Management office, Ski Hire, Ski School, cafe and public toilets). Using power generated from a turbine and nearby stream and weir, the micro- hydro was a huge step for Mt Stirling and a first for an alpine resort. The Mt Stirling Cafe, which was refurbished several years ago, continues to fuel adventurers and attract guests purely for the cosy atmosphere, great coffee and delicious food.
