WHAT’S NEW IN 2016 (CONTINUED) HELMETS INCLUDED THE PHOTO SHOP In 2016 all adult ski and snowboard rental packages from various rental outlets, including Buller Sports, Black Mountain Equipment, George’s Ski Hire, Grimus Ski Centre and the Duck Inn will include complimentary helmet hire as part of an ongoing commitment to safety for all guests. Fun Photos was a Buller institution for decades and many were sad to see “Woody” hang up his camera last year. The resort is excited to welcome legendary snow photographer Tony “Harro” Harrington who steps in this winter at “The Photo Shop at Buller”. Photography services will be on offer including race photos, family portraits and commissioned photo shoots. The Photo Shop will be in the old Fun Photos store in the Village and will stock camera accessories, souvenirs and other mountain-inspired gifts. NEW DINING EXPERIENCES New Fish and Chippery MOUNTAIN SAFE Mt Buller is offering Mountain Safe courses for the first time this winter in response to the growing need and demand from alpine enthusiasts seeking skills to be safer in the backcountry. Tony Harrington founded and directed the World Heli Challenge and spends months of every year skiing in backcountry terrain. He has developed a training program drawing on the expertise of international alpine guides and will be offering introductory 5-hr training sessions at Mt Buller. The courses will cover basic skills such as use of safety and rescue equipment, terrain awareness, companion rescue, snowpack assessment and decision making. 05 2016 Winter Media Guide Mt Buller is thrilled to announce that the arrival of a new Fish and Chippery. Taking over from Pancakes Plus located in the Village Square Plaza, the Mt Buller Fish and Chippery will be offering a broad range of fresh fish and chips. Visitors can choose from a variety of fresh seafood, crumbed, grilled or fried with healthy salads made daily. The Fish and Chippery is open daily from 11am and guests can choose to dine in or get takeaway. Change for Apres and Black Cockatoo Joe Maisano has taken on operations of Après Bar & Café and the Black Cockatoo restaurant inside the Mt Buller Chalet Hotel commencing this winter. Joe has a reputation for successfully operating alpine hospitality venues including Mt Buller’s iconic Kooroora Hotel. Under Maisano’s guidance, Après and Black Cockatoo will undergo refurbishments ahead of opening weekend ready to start the season with a whole new vibe and exciting menu changes.
