MSEP: Helping You Make the Most of Your New Year

By C. Eddy Mentzer, Associate Director,

Office of Family Readiness Policy

2016 was a big year for the Military Spouse Employment Partnership. We celebrated five years since Dr. Jill Biden, wife of Vice President Joe Biden, helped to launch the initiative in support of Joining Forces. Over the course of 2016, we also connected more than 2,000 military spouses with entrepreneurial resources through our monthly webinar with the U.S. Small Business Administration (SBA).

In October, we welcomed 50 new employers as a part of the Military Spouse Employment Partnership. Upon their induction, they joined the ranks of more than 300 partners who have hired more than 100,000 military spouses.

Our partners span multiple industries and offer tens of thousands of jobs at every level, from entry and mid-level positions to senior management. We could not be prouder of these companies, and their commitment to military spouses as valuable, capable members of the workforce.

In 2017, we are looking to build on the progress we’ve made in the past year. With the help of our partners and Department of Defense resources, we are dedicated to helping military spouses reach their career goals.

In the new year, you can expect a new MSEP Career Portal website at https://msepjobs.militaryonesource.mil, which will connect military spouses with career opportunities in new and innovative ways.

The MySECO website (https://myseco.militaryonesource.mil) will also feature a new and improved career planning tool, which will make it easier to find the specific resources best suited to a military spouse’s individual career path and occupational interests.
