Egyptian Museum Exhibition
The
fourth graders held an Egyptian museum
exhibition at the Liles Center on November 20. After
several weeks of learning about ancient Egyptian cultures
and traditions, students diligently worked to hold a
successful show. The exhibition was held in the auditorium
where the light technicians produced a tomb-like
atmosphere. The model artifacts, including fancy sphinx,
pyramids, and statues of pharaoh, were impressively built
and appeared realistic; students also provided museum
cards that added explanations to the artifacts. At the end of
the show, the fourth grade class stated to us that they had
enjoyed the experience to the fullest.
New Art Teacher is Here!
Mr. Jason Tan now teaches art to students
from kindergarten to 6th grade. Mountainview
haven’t had any art teacher since the previous art
instructor, Mr. Copeland, left the community in
2011. With a degree in visual communication
design, Mr. Tan plans to teach his students the
principles of art and the basic concepts of design.
“I love this diverse community of Mountainview,”
he stated, “I am really excited to teach students
here.”
Crazy Hair Day
On
October 24, the elementary school
celebrated “crazy hair day”. Students and teachers
took part in the event in numerous creative
hairstyles. While girls humorously tied their front
hair, and others had randomly braided locks. Many
boys, on the other hand, made use of wax and spray
paint to simulate the 80’s punk look. Mr. Ken,
elementary computer teacher, dyed his hair red and
surprised many of his students.
