By Herlina Widodo Christiana Meganingsih (Executive Secretary) Mbak Mega, the bright, bubbly secretary for Dr. McGavran, has been working at Mountainview for over seven years. Before coming to MICS, she worked in Jakarta as a secretary at an international joint venture, processing music and movies. But after several years, she decided to come back to Salatiga where she had previously studied. She loves her job because she has learned to serve God and other people. She also enjoys the Christ-centered atmosphere at Mountainview because she can work whole-heartedly while learning good values through the people she works with. Her job involves a lot of interruptions such as people calling her or asking for help, but she likes these challenges. She has learned to focus and serve in the challenging, yet enjoyable tasks at MICS. “My heroes are just everyday people who work hard , are honest and have integrity.” — Jordin Sparks Pak Atang (Security) Pak Atang is a strong, easy going man who works as a security guard at our school. He has kept our school safe from terrorists, thieves, and other criminals for 16 years. Before working at MICS, he worked as a security at UKSW (Universitas Kristen Satya Wacana), a well known university in Salatiga. He enjoys his job as a security because it requires much physical strength along with daily exercises. He said that Jesus Christ is his inspiration. He likes Mountainview because of its kinship - it never regards workers as servants, but as a family. In his opinion, servanthood is centered around a heart that seeks to make other people happy. He remembers the time when there was a bomb threat in 2004. Fortunately, it was a fake threat, but from that experience he learned to be more careful and better prepared for possible harmful incidents at the school. His message for the readers is to “do things to serve God!”. Hendri Setyawati (Secondary Secretary) Ibu Hendri is “in charge of everything good in the world,” says Mr. Martin. She is the secondary secretary whose daily routine involves receiving calls, assisting Mr. Martin, keeping records of attendance, and helping anyone who comes into the office. Sometimes on the phone, people mistakenly call her Pak Hendri. “They thought I was a man,” she comments. Ibu Hendri has been serving at Mountainview for 13 years, doing her “simple, yet extraordinary” job. She likes MICS because of the atmosphere, friends, people, and her work, through which she has learned many new things, such as how to use the photocopy machine. She shares that serving means doing everything wholeheartedly. In the end, she believes that whatever occupation she has is a blessing from God. 12
