Soccer
Ben Town (12th)
“Ben Town is a brown boy
with curly hair who is
everywhere during the
game”, says Sam, the Varsity
Boys Soccer coach. Ben is
known as the defender who
runs incessantly and switches
between offensive and defensive positions very fast.
He has been playing soccer for three years, but he
does not intend to play in college.
Basketball
Elia Adiel (8th)
“Elia is the engine of the
Junior Basketball machine”
says Mr. Beliasov, the Junior
basketball coach. Elia is the
point guard of his team and is
known as the ‘ankle-breaker’
after he tripped one of the opposing players during a
basketball game last year. He is currently in 8th grade
and plans to play throughout high school.
Lydia
(10th)
Smith
Lydia has been playing soccer
for all her secondary years.
“She is fast and she runs into
people. Not only that, she
scores with strong shots” says
Bethany Armistead, her fellow soccer player. She
currently plays as a midfielder and she constantly
brings about good results to her team. She plans to
play as long as she can.
Volleyball
Joyce Park (12th)
“She’s the player who keeps
the team together” says Mrs.
Collins, the volleyball coach.
Joyce is the oldest and the
most experienced player in
her team. This is why she
never gives up and encourages the other players. She
plans not to play competitively after she graduates.
Problem Solved!
By Ju Hoon Park
“Losing all three best goalies, probably in the whole
IISSAC, will lead us to make some changes to the way
we play.” said Mr. Scott Martin, the Varsity Girls
soccer coach. Missing Abby Robertson, Sarah Gmyrek,
and Paula Fallas this year, the girls soccer team now
faces a critical problem: all offensive players now need
to fill both offensive and defensive spots. To lessen the
load that midfielders carry, Mr. Martin is doing his best
to improve teamwork rather than individual skills. With
the gaps being filled up, the girls’ team is looking
forward to a rewarding result in IISSAC.
