From The Inside Out By Ha Sung Kang AUDITORIUM T “ he new sound and light system, with its simple yet advanced technology, allows the tech team to do more in helping with the performances on stage,” observed Yohanes Soeharto, Mountainview’s tech teacher. During chapel, you may have noticed that the two oversized speakers hanging on the walls have disappeared. Those speakers were replaced by smaller, better sound quality speakers. In addition, the school also purchased a new LED lighting system, illuminating a brighter array of colors on the stage. According to Mr. Martin, the cost of maintenance for the sound and light system last year exceeded the cost of its’ replacement. He hopes that these systems will enhance the audiences’ overall experience of the performances happening on stage. COMPUTERS In accordance with the new philosophy of providing the best technology for the students, the school purchased forty new computers. These computers replaced the older computers in the elementary school, the two dormitories, and the secondary library. Also, every classroom both in the elementary and secondary buildings has a computer for the teachers to take class attendance through Engrade and to show power point presentations and videos. These computers are energyefficient unlike the previous computers that consumed a huge amount of electricity. “Last year, the computers were slow crashing laggers, but this year those antiques were replaced with fast, sleek, and modern computers, ” shared Moze Simanjuntak, a frequent user of the school computers in the secondary. MALE BATHROOMS T “ he bathrooms last year failed to provide enough personal space and privacy, thus preventing many students from fully utilizing the secondary bathrooms,” noted Junior Peter Cho. Perhaps the biggest complaint from male students last year was the uncomfortable and cramped bathrooms in the secondary. To create more space, the school repositioned the sink outside the bathroom in the first floor. Whereas in the second floor bathroom, the school combined the old bathroom with what used to be the maintenance room.
