Viewpoint Readers !

As Graduation approaches quickly , I find myself envisioning where I ’ ll be in September . College dorm , college campus , America and yummy food . So often I place myself in the future , beyond graduation , beyond the farewells , and beyond the finish line only to be snapped back into reality in a catapult of low grades and senioritis . It ’ s not a pleasant way to be torn from one ’ s reveries .
The theme of the newsmagazine this month is ‘ Perseverance ’ for a reason . It is during these last few weeks that most students find themselves dreaming beyond exams , beyond the musical performances , beyond whatever is left for us to finish and into our lazy boys , the beach , SAT camps and delicious food . We would like to remind you that whether you daydream about it or not , summer will come . Seniors , you WILL graduate . So spend the last moments of your school year making the final push towards the finish line . Don ’ t place yourself beyond the finish line . Stick to the present . Persevere .
For me , my present is graduating and leaving . Even this current issue you ’ re holding , will be the last issue of Viewpoint I will be a part of . My next job will be to successfully hand over my responsibilities to the new Editor-In-Chief . I won ’ t deny that feelings of nostalgia , longing and even regret had poured in me as I prepared for this last issue . So I will stay in the present and grieve , so I won ’ t regret not having grieved enough . I will look on to the next issue and smile in content . Now let me say a few last words :
Teachers , faculty , staff and administration — all who have allowed for us to make the big leap from the newspaper to the newsmagazine — thank you for your help and support . But above all , thank you for believing in us .
Students and alumni , thank you for your critical eyes , your advice and complementing comments . You were always our audience , and you never failed to be a worthy one .
Previous and present Viewpoint advisers and Editors-in-Chief , we know that you were the key to each improvement , the reason the Viewpoint has come this far . We would like to express our gratitude to you .
And finally to next year ’ s Viewpoint staff . Never forget , Viewpoint staff , that we write to make a difference . You have everything you need . You can do it . Continue to produce worthwhile articles , upgrade Viewpoint to a more professional level .
Farewell .
