How To Feature: ian talbot - jones I travel with a camera-mounting tripod; previously I’ve ridden thousands of miles with a full size tripod and found it almost unused throughout the entire trip. I now use a full height, mini tripod without the cumbersome leg connection brackets and rotating / panning facility. My lightweight budget tripod when retracted measures 280mm long with a 40mm diameter and can be easily stored away with any of my luggage spaces. How many times have we each watched a Youtube video with someone talking to camera while the wind blows so loudly the audio comments are drowned out requiring sub-titles? As previously mentioned my video camera has no external microphone socket and expecting the camera’s internal microphone to pick up my voice, some five meters away and filter out all the background noise is an ask too far. I use a very basic Sony ICD-PX333 Digital Voice Recorder (Dictaphone) and a mini auxiliary microphone that attaches to your shirt at the end of a 2 meter cable. Finally the only other filming accessories I take on trips are additional camera / dictaphone batteries, numerous SD cards and a USB power adaptor with international plug socket adaptors 2 x 1.0 Amp for iPhone / GoPro and 2 x 2.4 Amp for iPad. Am I any closer to my ultimate goal of one day riding my own solo Round The World motorcycle trip and documenting my trip through videos filmed and edited while on the road? Check out my video filmed this summer half way up the “Smuggler’s Trail” on the boarder between the Spanish Pyrenees and the principality of Andorra and decide for yourself
