Much to my wife’s annoyance, during a recent family holiday, I
found a collection of some 52 Youtube videos from the Irish
motorcyclist Oisin Hughes. His films document his round the world
trip entitled “Not Dead Yet”. Within the videos Oisin is a solo BMW,
GS rider mirroring and expanding upon the Ewan and Charley “Long
Way Round” route, Oisin finds himself having an amazing
adventure including a very protracted mechanical break down in
the wilds of Mongolia. During the trip Oisin repeatedly uses his
camera as if talking to a familiar friend and even a therapist, he
pours his heart out and confides with the viewer; all with great
ease, confidence and a generous smattering of expletives.
