Turning off the main highway into Kakadu, you immediately notice the drop in traffic and
a more tranquil atmosphere. This is croc country and warning signs are posted at every
river and billabong. The Wet had just ended so many of the best attractions were still
closed due to water-logged tracks but it made the Yellow Waters cruise through the
wetlands a pure delight. In spite of the march of the cane toads, Kakadu remains one of
Australia’s highlights.
