The Concept Italian retro style equipped with modern day performance is the essence of the Ducati Scambler. The bike comes in 6 styles that include the Sixty2 Urban Enduro, Icon, Classic, Flat Track Pro and the Full Throttle. Thehistory of the bike is from racing on dirt tracks and the low stubby feel of the bike really does let you know that it wants to go, go, go. MEM headed down to Silverstone to meet up with the Ducati guys and pick up the Full Throttle version of the Scrambler. This packs 803cc L-Twin that pops out 75hp and a respectable 68Nm of torque for a dry weight of just 170kg. So this is not designed to be a touring bike that’s for sure just from the seat that really has very limited room for any kind of kit, that said you can get panniers for the Scrambler! This is not to say that you can’t take the bike around the world, any bike will do that but she will give you a lot more challenge because of the design. I’d be happiest with this bike in the stable as a ‘play bike’ that would be a few hours throwing around the twisties or running down the town traffic. Gentle green lanes are fun on the Scambler but the exposed belly showing the oil filter made me nervous of anything too loose and rocky. The FT (Full Throttle) gives you a feeling of being on a smaller bike than 800cc with the very low seat height of just 790mm it would be ideal for shorter riders (I’m 6’2”) to be able to get their feet flat on the floor. But there was never a feeling that style had been in short order.
