Riding in Turkey we felt completely safe at all times.
People we spoke to were as alarmed by the actions of
terrorist groups like ISIS as folk back home and wanted
nothing whatsoever to do with them, underlining the fact
that ISIS is not Islam, in the same way as the Ku-Klux Klan
is not Christianity. Turkey lives with trouble along its
borders with Syria and Iraq, compounded by the actions
of Kurdish separatists in all three countries. However as
we rode further east, our route was once again diverted
by problems along the Iranian border when the peace
agreement with Kurdish nationalists there broke down
resulting in a number of violent incidents as militants
battled with security forces in the region.
