Day 1 - 500km Road: paved 90 % - 10% land . 9 hs travel . From Tucuman we left three friends three KTM ( 2 990 and 1 950),after conditioning the bike especially covered with Studded tires for the trip. We ride the first day 500km , mostly by pavement to the town " El Peñón " (about 300 habitants, 3.200mts above the sea) , located in the West of the city Catamarca . Upon arrival we found two friends riders of the city Santa Fé (Arg.) . We would do with them the second day of travel . Day 2 400km Roads: Sand 30% - salt 10% - 10% Stone - Gravel 50%. 12hs Travel. At 8am and after loading additional cans with gasoline in the panniers- lateral, we began a journey to the Galan Volcano “ Volcán Galán”. His mouth is 34 km from north to south and 24 km from east to west. Gi ven its size it is the largest in the world. Its walls reach 5,000 m and 5,912 m the central peak (IGM), while its bottom is 4,000 m high. It habited in the Laguna Diamante for flamingos. The ground was mostly volcanic sand, small stones (gravel) stones. 4 KTM behaved wonders but poor bladed tires 1200 Yamaha ( wrong choice of tires ) of one of the pilots of Santa Fe, would make him the group delay in the trip inside the volcano. The landscape in the mountains prevails at all times. And would repeat something over the 5 days trip, we stop to much to take pictures during the route.
