Artist's impression of the great Shropshire Monoliths The Isle of Man TT is almost upon us, a wonderful spectacle of ‘speed’, ‘thrill’ and ‘accountability’; coincidentally, three of the 10 ‘rules to live by’ passed down to me by the great Speed God with whom I confer on a regular basis. I am currently in the process of sourcing two huge Welsh bluestones upon which to engrave these three edicts, along with seven others which complete the new ‘10 Commandments of the Road’. Soon I plan to have these enormous tablets placed high atop the famous Wrekin hill in the North of Shropshire, as a permanent and prominent focal point for motorcyclists to congregate around and worship upon. We may even do sacrifices; but I am getting a lot of pushback from Telford council on this issue and it remains moot at the time of writing. Where was I? Yes, indeed, the Isle of Man; perhaps the greatest sporting spectacle of the modern age, or any other for that matter. Flat out round Windy Corner would give Ben-Hur the heebie jeebies for a month; but, it has to be said, that great Time Trial has very little to do with Adventure Motorcycling, as we who read and write the pages of this fine journal understand the term.
