Suspension I found this superb even with two up and bolting down the twisting backroads of Yorkshire. You don’t get the electronic set up of the 1290 SA (but then you don’t get the SA price tag either) you do get the same quality WP suspension with 185/190mm of travel. The upside-down telescopic forks offer you 43mm and compress well under harder braking. I only did this to play with the forks and would normally adjust my speed and gears way before the corner to not have to hard brake in the first place. But test it I did and the control was confidence inspiring. The 1050 comes with fully adjustable preload and rebound to take account of the ride set up from single rider to pillion and fully kitted. To be fair I didn’t need to play around with the set up very much at all. The bike was comfortable and flickable with the lower weight (compared to the likes of the 1290 and BMW GS 1200) it really was a fun affair playing on the roads that took little to no effort.
