People ask me often whether I get lonely on my trip, travelling as I am by myself. But I have found that I am
always meeting amazing, kind and generous people. People who go above and beyond in helping me out,
travel companions that genuinely care , strangers that feel like family after a few days. I can count on my
fingers the number of days when I have actually been alone or felt lonely. I also get asked often whether I
am scared. If I take a step back and look at the enormity of what I am trying to achieve, or let myself
imagine and re-imagine worst case scenarios – yes, I do get scared. But if I try to focus on small goals,
getting from A to B, finding a place for the night, getting parts for my bike – everything becomes possible.
In the words of Joyce Meyer, “When we face our fears, we find our freedom.”
DO I LOOK LONELY?
