Where should I go?
Like ‘where should I stay’, if you get
bogged down in destinations you’ll end
up spoiling the journey. I’ve missed
plenty of impressive sights over the
years by not doing my homework, but
then I was busy enjoying riding my
motorbike at the time. Just keep an eye
out for places of interest as you go
along. I’d never have visited some of the
best places I’ve been too if I’d been
chasing guidebook recommendations.
Obviously, this doesn’t apply if the
point of your trip is to get somewhere
specific - down to Mugello for the
MotoGP or over to Red Square for
example (what kind of idiot would do
that…); but generally speaking, I firmly
believe that taking each day as it comes
is far more enjoyable than a mad dash
between tourist sites.
