Oh yes , when I find I ' ve ridden to a scene like that my side stand barely makes an indentation in the dust before I turn around in disgust , but not back on the bus , I utilise the beauty of my independent travel status . I have the choice and ability to turn around and find somewhere off the beaten gringo trail ... and I do .

There ’ s is nothing like the local to show you round a country you haven ’ t seen , but I stumble across such privileges where as a cyber forum follower has solid stepping stones along their path . It ’ s so simple for them , I must be making it deliberately hard on myself , it ’ s just the way I ' ve always travelled and I ' m used to it . I can ’ t convert , not fully , I ask the odd internet question , I gain the odd insight and I embrace the occasional bonus I find along the way . But to cyber search my way across continents is a sterilised way to pass the miles . Why do I travel ? Because I like what I witnessed when I first travelled back when the 90 ’ s had just begun . I continue in the same vein and I liked what I experienced , I ' m old school , I don ' t want it to be easy , I ride to challenge myself , if I knew already what I would find and where , I would lose the element of surprise in the journey . They say adventure happens when plans go wrong , I don ' t have plans where does that leave me ? Daily dealing with my predicament . I ’ m writing this in Belize as far south as I can get on the highway , now I turn around and head north . I ' m looking for back roads , the places that aren ’ t on the map , I don ’ t have a GPS . Give a local waving kid a chocolate bar to show me the way to the next unexpected , the waterfall down the end of his road and his world , and this is the rock you can jump off ; it will be the most memorable day of both out weeks . No internet , no worries I tell you about it when I get home ... where did I hear that phrase before ?
