Blackpool, a cold and wet morning at Blackpool is what I think about when I see this kit. I was on
a charity ride from Blackpool tower to Eiffel tower to be completed in less than 24 hours and no
motorways. There was perhaps 40 bikes all pulling away as I pulled my gloves snug into my
jacket. Just as I was pulling off a friend runs over “have you got a puncture repair kit?”. Of course
I had, you’d be fool hardy to not travel with one as they cost buttons but there across the
cobbles, sat at the curb was a rider and very miserable looking pillion! The adage ‘for the want of
a nail’ comes to mind and while covered by the RAC that would be around an hour before they
started working on the flat. A professional can fix this in perhaps 2 minutes at a shop – so the
bike was fixed at the road side and then advised to call ahead to a bike shop, get there and get
the repair sorted. Myself, I’d never just keep running on a kit fix!
