The editing of a movie has always been a complex task. We all remember the traditional editing system which used analog video recorders to capture the footage of the video camera.
The editing was done in a linear or sequential mode: a tape is in fact a time sequence of frames.
Old editing sistems, as well as being onerous and expensive, involved a progressive loss of quality in the next copies.
Now, thanks to the advent of increasingly advanced and powerful PCs, some softwares are able to edit digitized movies.
They are non-linear editing systems (NLE, Non Linear Editing), first developed in professional fields, and then also for amateurs; the advantage is that you are not bound to the sequence of the scenes as in the case of tape, but you can jump freely from one point of the movie to another.
Another big advantage of this method of editing is that the file can be copied without any loss of quality.
As regards filming, the present devices can be recorded on digital media such as SD cards or internal memories, so that they can be downloaded easily and they will have a higher quality.
