SARAH LYONS
By: Rachel Greiner
arah Lyons was born
in the 70’s in San
Francisco, CA. The only
daughter to a multi-talented,
true hippie couple, Sarah was
surrounded by artistic influence
her entire life.
Her grandfather was a
nature photographer in Alaska.
Her father was the Foreign and
National News Editor for The
Seattle Times. Both her mother
and grandmother are known
for their amazing vocals and
her brother is a famous rock
star, currently performing in
the Las Vegas show Million
Dollar Quartet.
Despite omnipresent
inspiration growing up, however,
when career-minded Sarah saw financial
opportunity for herself in the real estate market,
she went for it. Residing in Scottsdale, AZ Sarah
was doing quite well for herself, until 2008 when
the economy suddenly crashed. The downfall of
the market resulted in her unemployment and she
knew she had to do something to overcome the
economic battle she would soon be facing. Little
did she know, this would be the fresh start she
needed that would allow her to tap into her own
channels of creativity.
Excited to delve into something new, Sarah
purchased an amateur lighting kit and a camera
off eBay. She had always admired the work of
photographers she’d seen online and recognized
the situation as the perfect opportunity to try it
herself, though she knew it wouldn’t be an easy
transition - emotionally or financially.

need to recognize that and fix it to better yourself.”
She quickly became completely immersed in
honing her newfound skillset, focusing on all of the
learning curves photography brings.
Having worked as a model years earlier, Sarah
started out working with some of her friends as
her subjects, and put her experience to use with
her ability to instruct her models in regards to their
posing, body language and facial expressions.
She experimented daily with Photoshop and other
programming skills to perfect her unique style,
and traveled to LA to shoot every chance she got.
Eventually, after working with the likes of Playboy
Playmates, television show hosts, and Maxim
models her persistence paid off, landing her a >>>
