preferred! I also have an Elinchrome battery power pack kit that comes in handy. I like natural light, but it usually requires a kick with a little flash or large scrims, etc. FMM: How would you describe your style? JG: I like to describe my style as anything dramatic. I hope my images are viewed as powerful. I want people to wonder how the hell it was made. FMM: You are a self-taught photographer-how difficult was it to learn the skills on your own. What style of photography did you start with (fashion, portrait, fitness, etc)? JG: I feel I’m always growing and learning and have certainly not perfected the trade. However, I feel the beginning stages of learning came quickly for me. I worked my ass off, shot often, and experimented with reverse engineering until I felt I had the knack of a certain style dialed in. I started mostly with fashion and portraits, and I became interested in fitness photography a few years into it. FMM: Whose work has influenced you the most? JG: Honestly, I don’t follow names. I see work all over the internet and in magazines that inspires me, but I couldn’t tell you who shot it. I feel like following photographers makes me feel envious and less productive, but I’m definitely inspired by the work of so many great artists out there. >>> www.MOST mag.com || FITNESS M A G A Z I N E || 11
