‘I can’t move much but I can hold a pint.’ There is a
true-life scene in Give Them Wings when he ‘pulls’
a girl and he says to her ‘I can make love to you,
but you’re going to have to carry me up the stairs.’
I love this man. He is a true inspiration, and I am
totally honored to have been asked to direct his life
story.” There is also a possibility that, after Irongate
is released, they may adapt it for television with a
streaming channel like Netflix in mind.
As if all the other accomplishments weren’t
enough, he has started a company called Magnificent Films, so he’s also an entrepreneur. “I’m working mostly with an absolute genius named Tony
Waddington. Tony is the creator and writer and
executive producer on Irongate. Tony is an amazing song writer with over 60 number one records
across Europe and the world, he wrote songs like
“Sugar Baby Love” and many of Tom Jones’s hits,
and many more.”
While he is always cast as the villain or the
thug, we not too surprisingly find out that Sean
Cronin is, in fact, a big ole softie. How do we
know? “Okay you’ve got me there, yes, I am a big
softie.” That’s how. We asked him. He also has a
reputation for being ‘hilarious’. While that doesn’t
sound very diabolical at all, he does concede that
“I have a very dark sense of humor; anything dark
and twisted makes me laugh! Traditionally Spike
Milligan, Peter Jay, Monty Python, Dave Allen and
Dave Chapelle are among my favorites. Luckily
I’m not really a villain, I relax at the end of the day
with a very nice glass of expensive Rioja [that’s a
wine they make in Spain. I googled that] and hang
out with my two little girls. Nowadays, I’m just a
movie villain, although back in the day I was a little
bit naughty, to say the least!” He is a single dad
to Molly (seven) and Georgia (six), which he says,
“is singularly the most rewarding thing in my life.
Filmmaking comes a ‘very’ close second, though.”
Thug life, indeed.
