The Tipping Point by Riley LK Kaiser
Above the frozen clouds , northern lights spill across the sky , electric hands grasping at stars .
Inside the leaning barn , a horse shivers , then falls onto the thin straw , wheezing a last breath .
Under threadbare blankets , the farmer sleeps , dreaming of cedar shingles for a new barn roof .
