Dr. Philip Blosser, professor of philosophy, reviewed The Wisdom of the Liminal: Evolution and Other

Dr. Patricia Cooney Hathaway, professor of
spirituality and systematic theology, presented: “The

Dr. Janet Diaz, dean of the Institute for Ministry, serves on the AOD Lay Ecclesial Ministry Team
preparing for the 2016 archdiocesan Synod on the
New Evangelization. She presented: “Stoking the

Dr. Mary Healy, associate professor of Sacred

Word of God,” Institute for Priestly Formation in

September 16; “The Marian Style: The Feminine Ge-

nius in Evangelization,” Congress of Ecclesial Movements and New Communities, Rome, Italy, November 24; and an Advent Day of Reflection, Capuchin
College, Washington, D.C., December 16-17. She
published “Verbum Domini and the Renewal of Biblical Preaching,” Verbum Domini and the Complementarity of Exegesis and Theology (Eerdmans, 2014).
Dr. Robert Fastiggi, professor of systematic
theology, was elected president of the Mariological
Society of America in 2014. He attended the conference of the Fellowship of Catholic Scholars, Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, September 26–27; presented
a paper on Cardinal Kasper’s proposal to admit
divorced and remarried Catholics to Holy Communion, Society of Catholic Social Scientists, Mount
St. Mary’s University, Emmitsburg, Maryland, October 24–25; and served as the co-editor of A Companion to Francisco Suárez (Brill, 2015).
Fr. Daniel Jones, associate professor of theology,
taught “Introduction to the Fathers of the Church,”
Missionaries of Charity, Porte-au-Prince, Haiti, June
13-18, 2014, and preached a retreat, “Praying the
Psalms in Christ,” Carmelite community of Santa Fe,
New Mexico, September 5-11.
Dr. Daniel Keating, pro rata associate professor of
theology, was a consultant for the USCCB Committee on Doctrine meeting, Washington, D.C., September 11, and Baltimore, Maryland, November 9. He
presented “John 4,” Paradosis Conference, Siloam
Springs, Arkansas, September 25-27, and “Discipleship,” Lansing Diocesan Assembly, St. Mary Magdalene Parish, Brighton, Michigan, November 19. He
participated in the Catholic-Evangelical Dialogue, St.
Paul, Minnesota, October 9-11.

October 19-21; Diocese of Corpus Christi, Texas, October 28-29; and the presentation “The New Evangelization and Poland,” Archdiocese of Lublin, Poland.
Dr. Michael McCallion, Fr. William Cunningham
Chair of Catholic Social Analysis, completed the
report, “Joyful and Beleaugered: Coordinators of
Youth Ministry in the AOD,” in July. It was the basis
of presentations at two vicariates and two parishes
of the AOD, and a Knights of Columbus discussion
on youth. He published “The New Evangelization
in the Archdiocese of Detroit as an Intra-Ecclesial
Social Movement,” Church Life: A Journal for the New
Evangelization. He presented “Young Adults and the
New Evangelization in the Archdiocese of Detroit”
and “Practices of the New Evangelization: Devotional
Prayer, Meetings, and Service,” Society for the
Scientific Study of Religion and Religious Research
